What to say?

I have been neglecting both of my blogs real bad lately. My goal for 2011 is to, well not do that. I created this blog as a way for me to write about my family and events that happen. So I promise that however mundane I feel my writing will be I will still write about it, so that I can look back years from now and remember.

Until the next post.....

NO MORE....

AMOXICILLIAN IN THIS HOUSE!

Remember, a few months ago Matthew had strep throat and got that bad rash (the pics above), well Steven had strep last week and this morning those little red bumps appeared on him...hmmmmmmmmmm! Steven's doesn't look as bad in the pics as Matthew's but that is how Matthew's looked the day before I took those pics.

Something different

I have been doing nothing but posting videos of all the pictures I have been taking. I know you guys are loving it, but thought I would actually do a real blog post this time. What's new in our lives....? About the biggest thing right now is Brian lost his job. It was scary news at first, well it is still scary, but I am not worried. I know God is watching over us and I am confident he will have a job by the end of the month. But please be in prayer over this.

Summer is almost over..can you believe it? I mean we really just started and now we have to go back on August 6, a Friday no less. I've been doing quite a bit of working this summer, both on my photography and at some day camps.

Speaking of day camps, both Steven and Matthew attending the Cub Scout Day camp this summer, with their daddy helping out. Since Matthew is just starting out as a Tiger Cub he had to have parent with him. Steven and Brian have also attended Webelo Encampment as well. Kendall has gotten to go to camp with me, as well as Matthew. I am do a preschool day camp with different themes each week. Brian and Steven are hanging out at home while I am there.

Speaking of Brian hanging out at home...let's just say he NEEDS to get a job. Not necessarily for the obvious, needing the money..but because I am getting so spoiled. I have not had to do much around the house. All the laundry is kept caught up. When I mean caught up, I mean the clothes that I am wearing now, will be washed and put away by this time tomorrow. LOVE IT!!

I just shot my first wedding this past Saturday. I was so excited yet nervous. I had fun, and am still editing the shots, but so far they are turning out great. I have realized that I'm not a wedding photographer. I mean I will do other weddings as long as they are little, but my passion is more families and kids, both young and old.

Hmmmm, guess that catches us up. I might have a little contest happening this week, so check back.

Whitcher Family 6-29-2010

I just love this family. The mom and dad and I went to high school together and have watched each other's kids being born and growing up.

The Murdocks 6-17-2010

So this was my first shoot with an animal in it. I had a hard time choosing a song to go with this one, but I remembered this one. I think it is kinda fitting for the canine companion in the pics.

Check out this adorable little boy...you know what to do

Summer time

So today finishes up week one of Summer vacation. And what have we been up to so far??? ABSOLUTELY NOTHIN!! It has been wonderful. We had little vacation up in the North Georgia Mountains with my parents and we did a lot of nuttin there too.

This would be where I would have inserted some pics, but blogger is being a booger and won't let me right now.

We have a day at Stone Mountain tomorrow and the boys have Cub Scout Day Camp next week. I am teaching at a preschool day camp next week as well so Kendall will get to go to that.

I am hoping to get more clients for some photography shoots so I can get more pics for my portfolio before I raise my prices in July.

So that is all for now, stay tuned for some vacation pics as soon as Blogger decides to let me post them.

Byington Girls

I took some pictures of some very adorable little girls on Tuesday. It was mainly a shoot for Baby A for her 2 year pics, but had to take a few of her big sister D. Hope you enjoy...just a warning...LOTS OF CUTENESS!! If you wanna read more about these little girls and their mom and dad, head over to their blog.

Don't forget to turn the player to the side off.

The Kremkau Family 5/30/2010

I had the honor of shooting this BEAUTIFUL little family. They were here from Florida visiting family and asked me to do some pictures of them. I of course had to. The weather tried to keep us from doing it, but we did! Right at the end the bottom let loose but it was too late, got all the pictures taken.

Enjoy, but don't forget to turn the player on the side off first.

Allergic Reaction

Poor Matthew is allergic to Amoxicillin. Wanna know how I know?

What makes it even weirder is that he has had this antibiotic before and no reaction AND he was two days away from finishing up this round from the strep he had last week. I already knew he was allergic to Omnicef and Zithromax. Luckily he (and the other two) rarely get sick, but our options on antibiotics for him when he does get sick are narrowing. I am glad that this rash doesn't bother him.

Did I really just have to say that?

I was down in the garage/play area (small house and we HAVE to have somewhere for the kids to go play) helping my husband get some stuff together for the camp out this weekend. I look over and saw my daughter with one of our cats. She decided that Bella (the cat obviously) needed to go in the dryer. I said "let's not put the cat in the dryer". Immediately after I said that I looked at my husband and said "did I really just have to say that?" Gotta love kids!! And boy do I love mine.

Baby L

I had the honor of photographing this little one Monday. Her parents were gracious enough to let me use her as my first newborn to photograph. You may remember this family from here. I was a nervous wreck. Hope you enjoy!! Don't forget to turn the music player off on the side.

I know I said I was going to start posting these on my other blog, but the only way I can do that is to go through YouTube and it doesn't like the music. And the whole point of me doing the slide show is to put the pictures to music. So I will post there if I can, but if not I will be doing it here.

I am looking for....

...............................................edited to add...............................................................
See I knew I would forget something. I will post pics from the shoots, to my facebook and blogs (will not use first names).

people to take pictures of. If you know me and/or come to this blog or my other blog lately you know that I have been bitten by the photography bug. I have been dabbling in it, but I am now ready to broaden my horizons. So please spread the word that if someone is looking for a photographer, I am your person. I am still learning my niche in the photography world and...well just plain learning so my rates are very good.

What is my style you ask?

Well I prefer in the moment. I LOVE outdoor, but as long as there is light I can play around with, indoor is fine too. I like to let the subject/s of my shoots to just interact with each other or their surroundings and just snap away. I do love the occasional posed picture as well.

Huh? What's that? Oh yeah, my rates.

Well to book a session is $35. This is for now a "Portfolio Building Rate". I will let everyone know when I plan on raising it. For that you will get a disk with all the pictures (edited and unedited). The price goes up depending of if you want me to print out the pics or if you want to do them yourself. If that is the case, what I will do is email you the proofs and let you decide what pics you want and how many and then I can give you a price from there.

How long does a session normally take?

Well considering the fact that I am still new at this, (just a reminder) it takes about 2 hours.

Where are you willing to travel? (if you are not from GA you can stop reading from here if you want)

I am willing to travel to any of Paulding Co. West Cobb Area, Canton, Woodstock, Smyrna. I know there are other places so just ask me. I can come to your home or if there is somewhere you would like to meet let me know. There are a few choice spots of my own that I have gone that make beautiful pics.

Is there anything else we need to know?

Why you guys ask great questions. LOL!! Well I do have 3 children of my own with a husband that works until about 6 during the week, so if you book a session during the afternoon, I will have to bring them with me, unless I can find a babysitter. Also, I work 3 days a week until 12:30 and have to be home to get the boys off the bus around 3 ish. Just something to remember with you are trying to decide a day and time.

If there is a pose you want to try, write it down and bring it with you to the shoot. I know I am always looking for great ideas.

I know there are things that I am forgetting. And things may change as I get more confident but I will let you know when these changes occur.

To book a session, you can email me at jessica(DOT)foster80(AT)gmail(DOT)com or find me on Facebook. Well, I hope this post didn't totally confuse you because I feel it was all over the place and I look forward to hearing from people soon. =)

Such a proud Mama!

Today I went to the boys' conferences with their teachers. I really never worry about going, but there is always a "fear" in the back of my mind as to what they are up to. Matthew's teacher has reaffirmed to me that he is doing very well in Kindergarten. She told me is very ready for 1st grade and she believes he will flourish. Well that just swelled my heart to hear that.

Steven's conference went very well too. Steven reminds me of me when I was his age. I always did the minimum to get by. Don't get me wrong, I did well in school, but my heart really was never into it. Well I have noticed at home that he is just really coming into his own. His teacher went over his grades and showed me the progress from the beginning of the year til now and WOW!!! Vast improvement!! There are still some things we need to work on, but really nothing to complain about. So since we have left the school, I have been on cloud 9. I am so grateful that my boys are doing so well in school. We got some pretty terrific teachers this year.

Pop and Matt's Birthday Extravaganza

This past Friday we celebrated my husband's grandfather's 87th birthday and his Uncle Matt's 50th birthday. Let me just tell you, his family doesn't do anything small and they really know how to have fun as a family. Enjoy the slideshow!! Again, don't forget to turn the player on the sidebar off first.

All rise for "Prince Matthew"

Every year in February the school that my boy's attend has a Royal Ball. It is a prince and princess themed dance. We decorate with white lights, lots of white tool, and greenery. We have a dj and photographer. Every child that enters the dance gets their name thrown in a bag that is arranged by grade level and boy and girl. When there is about 1 hour left the names are randomly drawn and Matthew's name was drawn for the Kindergarten Prince. I was so excited, but I could not find that boy anywhere for him to be "crowned". A friend of mine found him and so I took him up to get his award and you tell me from these pictures what YOU think he thought of the whole thing.

Sorry...

about the lack of updates and pictures on both the blogs. Guess there is nothing really "news" worthy to share. I have been very busy and haven't taken too many pictures. That part is soon to change. I do have a few families that have asked me to take some pictures for them next week. Can't wait!!! We are having a new roof put on...well as I type this actually. I don't feel comfortable going anywhere with strange people on my roof so I guess I am stuck at home. Well I guess I am not "stuck" if this is the place I really want to be is it. Anyway, as things pick up I will try and blog more, but for now I got NOTHIN for ya!! =)

Curesearch Walk 2010

I recently signed up to be a phantom walker in memory of Maddy and Annette Maxey. Two precious little girls that lost their lives WAY too early due to childhood cancer. I need your help to reach my goal. Below is the email I sent out to my friends and I decided to post it here as well.

Dear Friends and Family,

I recently decided to participate in The CureSearch Walk 2010 in New Orleans, LA. By joining my team, you will be helping to find a cure for childhood cancer.

Think about the ways that childhood cancer has impacted those around you. By participating in this event, you are helping to raise money for childhood cancer research so kids with childhood cancer are able to reach their dreams.

We need your support, so please do anything you can, join my team, register as an individual or make a donation to on my behalf.

Thank you so much for all of your support!

I am doing this as a "phantom" runner in memory of Madeline and Annette Maxey...The team's name is Marching for the Maxey Girls. I am trying to help them raise money. This is a very dear family to me and my family. Here is an exerpt from the family's website...

As I said before, on Saturday, May 1, our family will be participating in The CureSearch Walk 2010 here in New Orleans. CureSearch supports the work of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the world’s largest cooperative cancer research organization that treats more than 90% of all children with cancer.

If you’re reading this blog, you probably already know how our family has been affected by childhood cancer. As a parent who has faced this twice, I know the one thing that every family in this battle wants more than anything else: a cure. And the only way to find the cures these kids need is research.

I’d like to ask you to join us in raising money to support research that will one day cure diseases like this. You can do this in two ways:

1. Joining our team, Marching for the Maxey Girls. To join, either as a walker (actually attending the event) or a virtual walker (part of the team, but not attending), go to www.curesearchwalk.org and follow the links to the New Orleans walk and our team. The registration fee is $10, but once you’re part of the team you can use the site to raise more money if you want.
2. Making a donation in support of one of our team members. You can donate securely online by following the instructions above to find our team’s page on the site, or you can write a check (be sure to include New Orleans CureSearch Walk and Marching for the Maxey Girls on the check) and mail it to:

CureSearch NCCF
The CureSearch Walk
4600 East West Highway
Suite 600
Bethesda, MD 20814

Every donation counts, no matter how big or small. We truly appreciate your support! Please help us spread the word about this on your blog, facebook page, whatever you’ve got. Let me know if you’d like a flyer to print out and post, and if you think your company or school would be interested in being a corporate sponsor or forming a team to attend the walk or just raise money, I can get you more information on that. Also, please encourage other families in the New Orleans area and the entire state of Louisiana to form their own teams. (Or send me their info, and I’ll contact them.) Thank you!

Let's work to find cures for childhood cancer so that no other family has to endure the heartbreak this family has had to endure. If you would like to familiarize yourself or check in on the family go check out their website...www.maxeyweb.com. Thank you for your support

I Heart Faces..."We are Family"

Yay, I finally have had my computer back consistently for about two weeks or so. I have had major problems with it and barely been able to check email let alone edit pics. This week's theme is "We are Family" and the details and rules are ....

It doesn’t matter to us at all if your photo represents a “traditional” family or a “non-traditional” family. We are looking for photos that show off a cool way to capture a family together…be fun, creative, unique and enter the most awesome photo you can! We would also like each photo entry to have at least one (1) adult in it and even possibly a wide variety of ages represented.

What we don’t want to see?? A photo with just children in it.

My choice is K getting her first teeth cleaning. I know you are probably wondering how this is family related. Well our hygienist happens to be my sister-in-law. She is showing K what the little brush felt like so she would know when she had to use it to clean her teeth. So when I was going through my pictures trying to figure out which picture I wanted to use (cause wow, I have a lot with just kids, guess it's time to branch out huh?), I saw this one and thought it was perfect.

Head on over to I Heart Faces to see some more family pics. Don't forget to leave some love. Also if you want to see this picture clearer and better, head on over to my photo blog.

BTW, if you are wondering how K did with her first cleaning...well she showed her Aunt K just how stubborn she can actually be. She wouldn't let the dentist check her mouth, but luckily her teeth are healthy, and there weren't any tears, and her aunt has all her fingers, so I guess it was a success.

Trick on the boys

So the boys have a habit of getting up early on the weekends and during holidays. We try and tell them to stay in bed and relax. They are up any way, being very loud. Well we found out last night that there would be no school today because of the hazardous conditions from the weather. I decided not to tell the boys and get a little payback. We got them up and ready like we do any other school day. They went outside on the front porch and looked at the snow. After a couple of minutes I tell them that there is no school today because it is a snow day. You wanna see their reactions? Well just watch the video below.

What a difference 10 year makes!!

I had been planning on just doing a year in review but after reading Mrs. O'Kelley's blog I thought I would give it a try. So here goes.

I decided to do from 1999 to 2009.

1999: Wow was this ever a year. I graduated high school this year and started my first sememster of college. I found out I was pregnant and got engaged. I was married this year as well. All this before I turned 19...which I did in December of 99. Brian and I as well as his whole family suffered the loss of Brian's dad, Dan. He had been fighting cancer for many years. The way I think of it is that God must have thought that Dan would have been more useful in heaven looking over us without cancer invading his body. Brian was hired on full time at work (he had been co-oping for a few years before all of this). This was wonderful because it meant healthcare and his pay was salary not hourly. I dropped out of the college I was in.

2000: Steven was born in April. We lived with my mother-in-law. We lived in the basement which had been converted into an apartment. Brian and I celebrated our first year of marriage in November.

2001: Who can forget those terrorist attacks?!? We bought our first home (well as of right now our only home) in December. I turned 21 this year. Brian graduated from Southern Tech College in December of this year as well.

2002: I stayed home with Steven while learning how to be a wife, mother and homeowner. We took our first family vacation to the beach this year.

2003: Matthew was born in October of this year, making us a family of 4. Matthew develped Pneumonia and was hospitalized for 3 days in November. Steven started 3 year Pre-K.

2004: I did a little subbing here and there to try and supplement our income a little.

2005: I started working as a two year pre-k teacher and Matthew went to school with me. Steven started Kindergarten. Brian and I purchased our mini-van (which I still have and LOVE). This is the year we decided to change churches. We moved our membership to a church that is closer to home and the worship style was more our style.

2006: Our daughter, Kendall was born in November. I went back to subbing since I was pregnant.

2007: I ended up finishing out the year teaching for a friend who had left in February to have her baby. I had my first ever jury duty.

2008: Brian was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He had surgery to remove the tumor and did 15 rounds of radiation (preventitive measures). He did so good with everything.

2009: Brian was cancer free for a year in July. I started a new job at a new preschool in January working 2 days a week and Kendall came with me. In August I returned but now helping to teach a new age...3!! I had my 10 year high school reunion. Brian had his first ever jury duty. Most important...WE CELEBRATED OUR 10 YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!! Wow how awesome is that?!?!

I know I am probably missing a few things, but I have heard you loose a little bit of your brain with each child you have..well guys I have had 3 kids and my brain wasn't that big to begin with. =) Throughout the years we have made many friendships. We have lost friendships and made old friendships closer. We have lost loved ones and gained so many more. I am so glad that I did this. I is making more excited out what the next 10 years will hold. I recommend everyone do this if possible.

I hope to not make my next blog post so distant.
