Help this family and in return you just may get a blog makeover

Please help this family get on Extreme Makeover Home Edition. They lost their house and belongings in a house fire. What you need to do first is go to this blog and read about this family. Get the button on the side of the page and add it to yours, an easy way to spread the word. When you are done with that go to this lady's blog and follow her instructions. Good luck!!!

Temporary Lefty

Okay I was emptying the dishwasher earlier and set a pot on the stove since I was going to use it to cook with it a little later. Well apparently while I finished cleaning out the dishwasher, one of the kids turned on a burner. I unknowingly went to move the pot and I hear this sizzle then the worst pain shoot up my arm. YES...you guessed it, I burnt my hand on a scalding hot pot. Luckily my hand is much better now and I can type with both hands. But a friend of mine pointed out that I should do a post of how many words you can make using the left side of the keyboard only. Well here is what I have so far...
wart
dart
fart
cart
tar
tear
red
sex
cost
vest
was
waste
case
cast
get
dart
wax
fax
vex
get
tar
wade
best
rest
read
dear
Here's my challenge to you. What words can you find using just the left side of your keyboard. Remember the cutoff is t,g, and b. You can not pass that line. Good luck!

God Bless America!! Please!

As I sit here and watch the Inauguration of our new President Obama I am praying for him and the whole nation. I did not vote for him but I am going to show him respect and try my hardest to stand behind him. I will do it for my kids because I want them to learn how to show people respect even if they do not agree with them. See I paid some attention in church on Sunday. I know God is in control and I will totally let him have that control. I will do my part and pray daily.

We don't need no stinkin warranty!!

Don't you just love having warranties on cars. Most of the time you don't need them or something very minor happens. It's when the warranty expires is when you really need them. Today was that day for us. I went in for a simple oil change, and OIL CHANGE people!! I had to leave my car there so they could replace one of the things that hold in my ENGINE!! I about wet myself when I heard I had been driving around with my engine ready to fall out of my van!!! I had been hearing a loud clunk when I would start my car and also when I would shift it into either reverse or drive. I knew it wasn't the transmission (even though it does need flushing) but I didn't really think much about it. Well I found the cause. The clunking was my engine hitting the frame of the car. It was starting to wear down the axles, but luckily those are still good. So a simple $30 oil change ended up being a $400 fix. The good thing is we are able to pay for this, IN CASH. We have been buckling down on our finances for the past 2 years. It is hard not being able to do what we want when we want. But then we think..."In the next two years the only things we will have to pay on is the house and the van, that makes it feel good." Needless to say we had lots of credit card debt...the joys of getting married early in life and falling prey to the CREDIT CARD MONSTER!! We have gotten away from using our credit cards for the past two years. Man that feels good. Anyway, I just came here to moan about the car and when on a major tangent about debt. Off to get the van!

My brother has a blog!!

So my brother Jason has started a blog. Check it out. Who knew he could write so well. I look forward to reading more of his posts. I am glad he is taking this opportunity to write. I don't know him as well as I would like. I see Brian and his sister Kathy so close and I wish I could be that close to any of my three brothers. They grew up with their mom and visited us when they could and during the summers. When my dad married my mom he had 3 children from a previous marriage, so I had step-brothers and then he adopted me so technically they are my half-brothers now. Jason is the brother that I have the most in common with. I so wish we lived closer, but I am so grateful for Facebook. And now that he is blogging, I can get to know him a little better and read up on how my nephews are doing.

I'm employeed

I gots me a new job. I am so excited. It is what I have been wanting for a while. I will be teaching at MGF's school in the 2year, 2day class. I will be able to keep K with me as well. I will be the assistant which is fine, since I don't fully know the place yet. It is perfect because it still gives me time at home and to do things with SDF's school. It won't be much money, but enough to help get us through the months, since BDF only gets paid once a month. I love that I can keep K with me as well. It gets her out of the house and around other kids. MGF is so excited. He is used to having me teach where he goes to school. Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know.

God is good!!

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a fun New Years Eve. We brought in the New Year with some good friends of ours. The kids (for the most part) played upstairs together. We watched some of the GT/LSU game (ha, if you want to call that a game). Then we ended up playing "Friends Scene It). Wow, maybe I don't know as much about that show as I thought. Everyone was awake to see the Peach drop, except for Matthew. I think he fell out at 11:30.

I was reading a friend's blog and it made me think of all the good things that happened this year. As challenging as 2008 was, it had it's good moments too.

Spending time with family...

Birthday parties....

Weddings...

Summertime...

Looking at these pictures (and there are SO many more) made me realize that it was a great year. We were truly blessed. Even with Brian's diagnosis with cancer this summer, which he is doing so well and no side effects. With a few other friends having some health issues too. They are doing well. I have friends and family that are going through or have been through divorces and going through nasty custody battles, (which is still going on, so please pray really hard). We have family going through the death of a loved one, as I type they are in the middle of her funeral. I know this is NOT how they envisioned bringing in the New Year. But this lady is now in Heaven walking the streets of gold with Jesus. So she is the lucky one.

The Maxey's are dealing with their situation. They are teaching everyone to remember that God is in control and there is nothing he can't handle. He is bigger than any nasty cancer. They teach us to appreciate the small things and to remember to laugh any chance you get. Every event this year has re-taught me the AWESOME power of PRAYER, and that is something I am truly grateful for.

Another family that could really teach you the power of prayer is this family.
